Celebrating the feast day of St. Michael, the patron saint of grocers, with an apple-picking outing on Île-d’Orléans seems like a perfectly fitting tribute! Following the 10 a.m. celebration of the eucharist at St. Michael’s Church on Sunday, September 27, we'll gather for a reception at the church before heading to Joe Giguère-Verger & Cidrerie (2194 Chem. Royal, Sainte-Famille). If you'd like to contribute a festive dish for sharing after the service, we'd love that! Please contact Canon Jeffrey Metcalfe if you plan to join in the apple picking; this will help us coordinate rides. All are welcome to join us for apple picking, regardless of whether you can make the service.

We are excited to announce a new informal discussion group to add into your calendar: Thursday Night Theology. Join us on the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at Church House (29 rue des Jardins, Québec) for a conversation exploring a topic from a theological perspective. Our first session on October 1 will focus on "On Orienting Ourselves in the Age of AI." Drawing on Pope Leo XIV's encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, Canon Jeffrey Metcalfe will facilitate a discussion on some ways we might approach AI development and our use of it. Some questions we might ponder: How might AI be shaping us as human creatures and the rest of creation? And what responsibilities do we have as AI becomes more integrated into society?
No preparation is necessary. Just bring an open mind ready to explore.

What are we going to be for?

“Complaining can become a character trait the more we practice it. In other words, complaining can become a vice, and if we are not careful, we can begin to see the world through the lens of complaint, through the lens of dissatisfaction, through the sense of not enough.” You can read the whole of Canon Jeffrey Metcalfe’s sermon from last Sunday here.
