Churches at Night This Saturday · La Nuit des clochers ce samedi

The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity is joining this year's edition of Churches at Night/La Nuit des clochers. This Saturday, October 10, from 7 to 9:30 p.m., the Cathedral and five other churches in the Old City will open their doors. As the evening unfolds, let the sound of bells guide you from church to church, discover heritage treasures that are often unknown, enjoy musical performances, and immerse yourself in the fascinating history of places that have shaped Quebec City’s landscape for generations. The Cathedral will be showcasing its historic bells, the power of its grand organ, and the beauty of the Anglican choral tradition. La cathédrale Holy Trinity participe cette année à La Nuit des clochers. Ce samedi 10 octobre, de 19 h à 21 h 30, la cathédrale et cinq autres églises du Vieux-Québec ouvriront leurs portes. Au fil de la soirée, laissez-vous guider par le son des cloches d’une église à l’autre, découvrez des trésors patrimoniaux souvent méconnus, appréciez des prestations musicales et plongez-vous dans l’histoire fascinante de ces lieux qui façonnent le paysage de la Ville de Québec depuis des générations. St. Michael’s parishioners are invited to bring fruits and vegetables to decorate the church for Harvest Thanksgiving this Sunday, October 11.

Lynda Lee McEwen

Lynda Lee McEwen, sister of Donna McEwen, died suddenly and peacefully on September 25 at St. Sacrement Hospital in Quebec City, surrounded by loved ones. She was 71. Lynda lived for over 50 years in Montreal, where she studied, taught, and danced. She is survived by her siblings Terry McEwen (Bev Bachman), Shelley Coyston (Warne Davidson), and Donna McEwen (David Mendel); her four nephews, James and Sam McEwen and Jonathan and Matthew Mendel; and many cousins and friends. The family plans to hold a memorial service next summer. Donations in her memory may be made to MS Canada. Rest eternal grant unto her, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon her.

Lynda Lee McEwen, sœur de Donna McEwen, est décédée subitement et paisiblement le 25 septembre à l’Hôpital du Saint-Sacrement de Québec, entourée de ses proches. Elle avait 71 ans. Lynda a vécu plus de 50 ans à Montréal, où elle a étudié, enseigné et dansé. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses frères et sœurs, Terry McEwen (Bev Bachman), Shelley Coyston (Warne Davidson) et Donna McEwen (David Mendel); ses quatre neveux, James et Sam McEwen ainsi que Jonathan et Matthew Mendel; et de nombreux cousins, cousines et amis. La famille prévoit tenir un service commémoratif l’été prochain. Des dons à sa mémoire peuvent être faits à SP Canada. Accorde-lui, Seigneur, le repos éternel, et que brille sur elle la lumière sans fin.

Clothing Drive for Projet Lune · Collecte de vêtements pour Projet Lune

For a number of years, the Cathedral has been collecting clothing for Projet Lune, an organization in Lower Town that helps women who find themselves on the street. It runs a day centre as well as two apartments that house these women temporarily. We have always sent them clean bras and new underpants. With the onset of fall and winter, they also need warm clothing such as sweatshirts and sweatpants, hoodies, leggings, sweaters, hats, scarves, mittens, socks, and knapsacks. All donations will be much appreciated, and can be given to Mary Jean Martin or Anne Pasquier on a Sunday morning at the Cathedral.

Depuis plusieurs années, la cathédrale recueille des vêtements pour Projet Lune, un organisme de la Basse-Ville qui vient en aide aux femmes en situation d’itinérance. L’organisme offre un centre de jour ainsi que deux appartements où ces femmes peuvent être hébergées temporairement. Nous leur avons toujours fait parvenir des soutiens-gorge propres et des culottes neuves. Avec l’arrivée de l’automne et de l’hiver, elles ont aussi besoin de vêtements chauds : hauts et pantalons en coton ouaté, kangourous, leggings, chandails, tuques, foulards, mitaines, bas et sacs à dos. Tous les dons seront grandement appréciés et peuvent être remis à Mary Jean Martin ou à Anne Pasquier le dimanche matin à la cathédrale.

Faith and Public Space Forum · Forum Foi et Espace Public

On Monday, October 26, La Nef (rue Saint-Joseph Est, Quebec City) hosts the fourth Forum Foi et Espace Public, a day of reflection and dialogue on how communities of faith contribute to the common good in Quebec. Organized by Cardus, the Forum features speakers including Jonathan Pageau and Gérald Larose. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m., and the day runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $75. Guided Imagery Meditation · La méditation par la visualisation

This form of meditation is an invitation to "see" and experience the Word. Sessions take place the first Saturday of every month at St. Michael’s Church, 1800, chemin Saint-Louis, Sillery. Next session: Saturday, November 7 at 10:00 a.m. As in the past, the meditations will be led in French, but participants can express themselves in English, if they wish, during times of group discussion.
