Farewell to Leo Fernandes · Au revoir à Leo Fernandes

Friday, June 6 marks Leo Fernandes' final day as Facilities Manager for the Regional Ministry. In July, Leo and his family will begin a new adventure in India, where his spouse Stephanie is being transferred for work.

In the two-and-a-half years Leo has been part of our community, he has been invaluable in helping maintain, repair, paint, build, modify, beautify, and improve the physical infrastructure that enables us to gather for worship, welcome guests, and engage in ministry — at Church House, the Cathedral, St. Michael's, Christ Church in Valcartier, and elsewhere in the Deanery. Leo also helped give birth to the food ministry based out of the Church House kitchen, which nourishes some of the hungry of our city.

We will miss Leo's many gifts, including his ability to address pretty much any maintenance or infrastructure issue that confronted him — always with patience, humour, and kindness. We wish Leo, Stephanie, and their family every blessing as they embark on this new chapter.

Le vendredi 6 juin marque le dernier jour de Leo Fernandes à titre de gestionnaire des installations pour le ministère régional. En juillet, Leo et sa famille commenceront une nouvelle aventure en Inde, où son épouse Stephanie est mutée pour son travail.

Au cours des deux ans et demi où Leo a fait partie de notre communauté, il a été indispensable pour aider à maintenir, réparer, peindre, construire, modifier, embellir et améliorer l'infrastructure physique qui nous permet de nous rassembler pour le culte, d'accueillir des visiteurs et de nous engager dans le ministère — à la Maison de l'Église, à la cathédrale, à Saint-Michael's, à Christ Church à Valcartier et ailleurs dans le Doyenné. Leo a également contribué à faire naître le ministère alimentaire basé dans la cuisine de la Maison de l'Église, qui nourrit certaines des personnes dans le besoin de notre ville.

Nous regretterons les nombreux talents de Leo, notamment sa capacité à résoudre à peu près n'importe quel problème d'entretien ou d'infrastructure qui se présentait à lui — toujours avec patience, humour et bienveillance. Nous souhaitons à Leo, Stephanie et leur famille toutes les bénédictions alors qu'ils entament ce nouveau chapitre.
